In 2022 Erik was working in a tint shop in Waterford MI. At the time he was installing automotive window tint, PPF and flatglass (residential, commercial films). He was also expecting his third child. In 2022 Issa was searching for new career opportunities when she stumbled upon a Facebook Job Posting. It was for a aftermarket automotive shop in Waterford MI, five minutes from her son's school. She applied, and was hired for leading sales in the automotive division and overseeing the office and clients. Issa had no film experience whatsoever and there was no formal training in place for this position. Her first week of work she went home at night and learned all she could about the film she was supposed to sell. She had no idea what PPF was for the first week. Her research led to a million questions in which she would daunt Erik with.
Unlike most, Erik was patient, extremely knowledgeable and took the time to explain and demonstrate. He reinforced Issa'a knowledge and she grew to understand the performance of the films and more importantly the need. Because installation is a craft and the canvas (cars) having many variables, there are many details to identify when quoting and applying film to a vehicle. Issa and Erik began to jive, she took the time to understand and respect the difference between quality installations. Erik's talent and Issa's confidence together created a dynamic duo. Within one month Issa was seeking additional talent to support the growth of their division. Together she and Erik choose a candidate. Issa could overhear Erik training. She recalls him having the utmost patience and excellent ways of describing the application process and the expectation of the film performance during install.
Shortly after beginning to work together they were able to grow a division and quickly outgrow the small but profitable entity they were working in. Issa had been vetted by another shop and was considering making a move. Due to differences in integrity between Erik and the owner, he chose to make an abrupt exit. One week later Issa made a similar call and decided to accept the offer she had. Erik was quickly recognized by a well renown shop in the area. His experience there began fairly well and he was gaining more experience in installation and shop management. Issa settled quickly into her new position. She went from overseeing two installers in one division to 7-11 seasonally over three divisions. She obtained extensive knowledge in detail, paint correction, films, and coatings. Her demographic supported predominantly luxury and hyper vehicles. In addition to sales, Issa oversaw operations amongst all divisions including the functionality of a satellite location that facilitated overflow and marine services. She found herself absolutely in love with an industry she just so happened to stumble upon. She immersed in every aspect of the aftermarket automotive industry. Nine months after Issa began her new position her growth in sales facilitated onboarding another PPF installer and it was without a doubt going to be Erik.
Erik and Issa were once again professionally reunited in April of 2023. Erik had always been supportive of Issa professionally and vice versa. They would always talk shop and Issa had expressed how inundated she was with client communication and quotes. Erik offered to learn the system she was using and assist her. One Sunday that is what they did. Issa showed Erik how to prepare and send out proposals via their CRM. Together that afternoon in 2 hours they sent out 33 quotes then went to lunch. As they sat there the notifications just kept dinging letting them know that clients were approving their proposals. He was amazed. Once again he saw Issa in action. He noticed her engagement with clients and the time she takes to insure that clients needs are not only met but exceeded.
Like there first stint working together this one too was short lived. Issa was let go. She was devastated. If anyone knew the effort she put forth into that operation it was Erik. One week after Issa was fired Erik once again acting out of the utmost integrity packed his belongings and left the establishment. Both Erik and Issa disappointed and discouraged with recent employment opportunities in an industry they both loved set them out on very different paths. Paths that potentially led them to different states. Both had lucrative opportunities on the table. However, life happens, and that led their paths together once again. Both Erik and Issa remained in Michigan and together with the help and support of their family and loved ones have created Armor Protection Films LLC. A private label aftermarket automotive appearance and protection shop.
